I bought these because I live in a rental with lots of damaged or missing screens. They're a good height and fit snugly into the window. (Disclaimer: Snug, but not catproof. I would not expect them to keep my cats inside if they weren't backed up by window bars.) They fit well enough to keep bugs out -- my neighborhood is riddled with tiger mosquitoes, and I didn't see any inside during the late-summer weeks when I used this screen.

The actual screen material is a relatively stout uncoated steel mesh. Not incredibly attractive, but more importantly, they're sturdier and more cat/dog/squirrel-resistant than my house's existing screens.

I'm at a graduate school with new apartments on campus. The apartments do not have screens in the windows, which I thought was very odd. One day I had my window open I saw a gigantic beetle looking bug sitting my leg. That was the day I ordered this product. It works wonders. Allows in the fresh air, keeps out the bugs! I recommend this 100%, cheap way of keeping the bugs out but the fresh air in!
