When is enough - enough. When is it time for your 18 + child to leave the nest and go out into the cold cruel world? Times are hard now and the young adult are having it hard. Please read on.
When our young adults are lying around the house and not being a productive member of society, the question to ask is, “What am I doing to help?” If I leave this child skimping by on life am I really helping? Am I prepared to support my adult child financially and emotionally for the rest of my life?
The answer is no. Definitely no.
We have to help our children grow up and make there way into the cold world. We need to give them a shove in the right direction. If you feel the child would be better off in college or some kind of training program - we have to find a way to get them to take on this responsibility without losing them forever.
Many times this is just from the adult child digging in and having low self-esteem problems. The adult child is afraid to take the first step toward independence and to their own future. Now is the time we must be strong and give the child all the encouragement needed. Maybe the child never received this encouragement before or it was not given in a positive way.
Holding our adult children back and not letting them grow up is not beneficial to the child or to you. Today the cost of living is so high it can become an excuse for the adult child to live with their parents possibly forever.
